The Michigan Middle School Journal welcomes manuscripts for consideration. In addition to articles, the Michigan Middle School Journal would like to receive feature type items, student writings, poems, or articles worthy of reprint. Individuals interested in reviewing books or other media should contact Claire Niehaus, Editor, Michigan Association of Middle School Educators, PO Box 31, Lincoln Park, Michigan 48146, or email mamseoffice@mamse.org.
Articles which speak directly to practitioners in the field are most desirable. Pieces dealing with elements of middle grades curriculum, such as music, social studies, etc., rather than curriculum in general are preferred. Parent involvement, discipline, evaluation and reporting are other likely topics. Articles not conforming to the guidelines below will be returned to the author without review.
- Article of 1700-2000 words are preferable. Shorter pieces of 750-1000 are acceptable.
- Double space all copy with standard margins. Footnotes should be kept to a minimum and placed at the end of each article. The use of side heads or center heads is encouraged. They break copy and increase readability.
- Two copies should be submitted —one with cover page giving author(s), professional affiliation, address, phone, approximate number of words in article, and any other pertinent information; and picture of author(s) is an option.
- The author will receive an acknowledgment.
- Each manuscript is read and evaluated independently by the editors. The Michigan Middle School Journal reserves the right to edit manuscripts published. Where extensive editing is called for, the author may be consulted.
