The Louis G. Romano Scholarship is awarded to a middle school student from the district which hosts the annual conference. Students who are nominated must meet the following criteria in order to be considered for the scholarship:
1. Student’s academic performance is aligned with their abilities and achieved a minimum of a C (2.0) average.
2. The student demonstrates leadership by willingly participating in activities and has a positive influence on others.
3. Citizenship is exhibited by their ability to get along with others, both adults and students.
4. The student is involved in community service by actively participating in a project that is of service to others.
5. The student participates in co-curricular activities such as clubs, athletics, intramural, performing arts, or personal growth activities.
The MAMSE Board awards $250 towards a Michigan Educational Trust account to the recipient of the scholarship. The award recipient is chosen by a committee from the host school.
